hi guys.. sorry to disappoint all of you with my vanishing act.. it’s been hectic lately with all sorts of things happening…

here’s a quick update:

1. switched to Mac OS X completely and i’m loving every second of it

2. developed FontSwap, my first application for the iPhone 2.x fw. as the name suggests, it provides a GUI tool to easily and safely switch fonts on your device.. especially useful for people who’re uncomfortable with using SSH..

3. survived my minor exams and did reasonably well..

and here’s a look at things to come:

1. more custom fonts from my gallery of personal favorites

2. a gallery of my favorite wallpapers as promised a long long time ago

3. screenshots of FontSwap and of course the beta release. you guys get to test it before it goes live on Cydia..

also.. i’d like to inform you that i’ve got my major exams comin up, so i might vanish again, but only for a few days.. please keep the requests coming as other visitors may be able to help you if not me.

you may respond to this post with your views and suggestions of any changes or additions to this blog you’d like to see..

there are so many things I’m supposed to be working on.. there’s this website that is getting delayed since ever.. I’m sure the client must be thinkin I’m some kind of crook.. but I got my exams starting tomorrow.. really heavy stuff.. well obviously since I put off stuff until the last moment..

you need to install UIKit Tools from Cydia to take a screenshot of the lock screen.. I like to use uishoot instead of the other alternative as I know this will work in one go..

hello again.. had a bit of time on my hands so i thought i should make this theme that people requested..
this is the Neo Dialer theme which replaces the default dialer with a NeoTech style dialer and default colors.. package is released as usual in the form of a WinterBoard theme for easy installation..

you might also wanna use this custom font which changes the font of the dialed number to NeoTech, completes the theme.

Hi.. As you must’ve guessed by now.. I’m rather busy these days.. Got my minor exams starting next week and some other work related to my B.Tech project and other stuff.. A lot of work is piled up and will take some time to finish off..

Just a quick update for those of you who upgraded to the newly released 2.1 FW.. All the themes and customizations released here work just fine on 2.1.. So you can start using these.. I’ve also upgraded to 2.1 and my iPhone is definitely going a lot snappier than earlier.. I did cut down on the number of apps I have installed so that also helps..

I’d suggest upgrading to 2.1 asap as it provides better stability and some very good features have been added to the iPod application especially the creation of Genius playlists.. Other improvements will only become obvious over time, though I really hope Contacts and SMS take less time to start that it did on 2.0.1..

The NeoTech keyboards are now available on Cydia through the BigBoss repository..
this includes Neo Keys, Neo Keys Dark and Neo Keys Dark [WhiteSpace].
BigBoss repo is in community sources so you don’t need to make any changes to Cydia, just let it refresh once.
I thought this will make the themes available to a larger user base and at the same time allow me to provide updates and bugfixes in a more simple and efficient manner.
If you have the keyboards installed you should install again from Cydia.
If you’re using Neo Keys, the one with the default colors, you *must* install from Cydia as a major bug has been fixed. Thanks to Allen from Planet-iPhones for pointing it out.

NOTE: these themes only affect the keyboard on your iPhone.. to have system-wide customization.. you can download the various custom fonts that I’ve posted here..

continuing the posts about fonts.. here’s how you can add extra fonts to your iPhone for use with WinterBoard and maybe other applications as well..

Advantages of adding extra fonts:

• Set your SpringBoard icon labels to the font of your choice [through WinterBoard]
• Get extended font support for viewing websites in Safari
• Get extended font support in applications, either as a user or a developer

For this tutorial I will add the Calibri font family to my iPhone, the following fonts of this family should be available on your computer by default

• Calibri
• Calibri Italic
• Calibri Bold
• Calibri Bold Italic

[i'm doing this on a Windows Vista system, if you're not using Vista some steps for obtaining the fonts may be different]
