FontSwap v1.4 now on Cydia
by gaurav on Jul.13, 2009, under iPhone
hey guys..
the next version on FontSwap is now available on Cydia. it fixes the application for iPhone OS 3.0
many thanks to BigBoss and Dustin Howett for their contribution towards this release. the update also contains a few minor changes, that increase it’s usability for iPod Touch users.
IMP: you may notice some customs fonts will be not show up right [there's a slight shift in the vertical position], this is because the iPhone OS 3.0 fonts have different font metrics compared to iPhone 2.0 fonts and the fonts ported for 2.0 will not appear proper on 3.0, please contact the custom font authors for a fix of the custom fonts.
you can get many great fonts on the MacThemes forums, you can also request fonts you need over at that forum http://macthemes2.net/forum/viewforum.php?id=24
have fun..
NOTE: to fix vertical shift of *Default* fonts on iPhone 3.0 copy fonts from
/Applications/FontSwap.app/StockFonts3/ to /System/Library/Fonts/Cache/

Thanks for updating this, but it looks like there are still a few bugs to be worked out. Using the NeoTech font that comes with the starter package, all the text is slightly raised. The slide to unlock text, the status bar clock and everything in the Settings app are all off center and appear to be raised slightly.
The Lock Clock font seemed to work just fine though.
Just an FYI.

Good afternoon,
Thank you for update, i write from France, i want to know if the applic v.1.4 works with firmware 2.2 ? Because i always have font swap 1.3 after updating ?
After, is it possible to have the example of the font on the screen to know how is the font ? Because there are only 3 or four fonts showing the example of the fonts on applic v 1.3.
Many thanks for your reply and best regards….
You can reply me if you want on my box “patbellu@hotmail.com” Thx….

I believe your explanation for the vertical align problem isn’t quite right, because I just changed back to the “Default” Helvetica font and it is more out of align than the one I was using (Myriad Pro).
Look at my Clock and a Badge:

Could you please help me get this on the correct alignment?

I am having the same alignment issues with the fonts in the starter pack. I suspect that all need to be updated to work with OS 3.0 as well and Gaurav seems to indicate in his release announcement.
I am a bit surprised that the starter pack was not updated as part of this release though, especially since it installs by default.
I am now stuck with mis-aligned fonts and as far as I know the only way to recover back to the real default font will be to restore the phone.

I do appreciate the update though. Thank you.

Hey guaravgiri.
Install your great app. I totally love your neotech fonts. The fonts were misaligned somewhat. Eventually I decided to revise them. The process was very easy. Took me a few seconds to revise all the neotech fonts and also made one for Notes too. If you need some help or want to know an easy way to fix the misalignment, lemme know.

Hey Gaurav! Fontswap is a great app. Thanks a lot! I have a problem with the cineplex font though and I’m wondering if I’ve done something wrong. I have a 3G with 3.1.2 installed using latest Rock and jailbroken by Blackrain. When I choose the cineplex font, everything but the colon used for the time appears great. The colon appears as two great big empty squares that overlap the adjacent numbers, obscuring them. Any advice?
