FontSwap: Imminent Release

so here are screenshots from my first iPhone app…
FontSwap:
i hope this goes down well with you guys.. especially users who complain abut the complicated process of installing custom fonts.. this will make it easier..
there are font categories for which the app works as seen in the screens above
fonts have to be put in packages to be identified by the application.
FontName.font
I will add facility to read and display font information like, author, preview, etc in a third section.. could only manage to finish two TableViews to get a feel of the Objective-C language. this works for now so i’ll release it soon..

You are definitely the Font expert.
Of course, I spent all day learning how to port fonts and to install fonts and such, THEN I see this. Oh well, a little knowledge never hurt anyone =]

i’ve packaged and sent the beta release to BigBoss for hosting. i did that yesterday so i guess he must be busy. it should be on Cydia today..

@David: thanks for bringing this to my notice. i was not aware of the Pry icon set as the icon used was given to me by a friend.
i’ve sent a PM to Jonas on the MacThemes forums and will retain or change the icon depending on Jonas’ reply.

@Paul: try updating your sources in Cydia, especially the BigBoss repo.
or use search and look for “FontSwap”, install “FontSwap Starter” from the results if installing FontSwap isn’t working for you.
FontSwap Starter is a dependency and both packages should install at one go.

Hello, it seems to be nice app, but does it support central europe character set? I think it is called Windows 1250.

I seem to get the message fontswap cannot open. I have restored the phone. I have erased the phone. Not working still. I have removed and reinstalled the app. It works great on my wifes phone. First time installed worked perfectly. I even installed the starter still not working. I even got it on my 2g phone. So why can’t I get it on my 3g. Help please.

@kuba: the application only handles the task of replacing system fonts with custom fonts. it’s upto the person who ports the font to include support for various charsets.
@james: few users on 3G had this problem. i dint have it on the test device i used. only thing i can suggest right now is to reinstall.
@O$MONEY: please try to reinstall.

Can you get it to change even more, like the keyboard font?
The dialer font doesn’t change on mine BTW.Running 2.1 os. How about color change? Where do we donate?

My iPhone is a 2g firmware 2.1 and this beautiful app still doesn’t work on it U_U…

On 2.2 edge iPhone workED..then I resored again to 2.2 and now it’s not opening..can’t understand why!! It worked well and now no longer..

i had the same “cannot open error”. to fix, set fontswap.app permissions to 777 and apply to all enclosed items. then REINSTALL fontswap from cydia. thats all.

I’m having a problem with this application. The system fonts don’t change for me. All the fonts on the main screen and text messaging (SMS) won’t change. Everything else seems to work for me. Any ideas?

There was an alignement problem for the date in the taskbar and the 4 passcode dots. Is that issue fixed now? Thanks.

Hi.
The german letter “Ä” (the big ä) is missing in the font “Papyrus” in the SMS app. It’s working in Notes tho.

I can’t get fontswap to show on my springboard when I have installed it. I’ve restored my iPhone and it still doesn’t work. Even when I respeing it won’t show.

Help! I’m running iPhone OS 3.0 but when I used fontswap on neotech I got misalignments on my top clock and mail counter… Could you recommend a fix?

Actually, this misalignment happens with every font here (3gs 3.0) – even when I switch back to the “Default” font. Only resetting all back to default will align the default font properly again. Looking foward to a fix. This is a great application!
